Elise Rasmussen will give a lecture about her artwork and process to mark the closing of her exhibition “Unbecoming” at the New Media Artspace at Baruch College. Ms. Rasmussen is a Canadian artist currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work tells poetic yet unsettling stories about canonical episodes of cultural history. Her contemporary feminist retellings disrupt and reimagine the “unbecoming” meanings buried in established events, unmasking hidden voices, and unraveling tired logics. She was an artist in residence at the Nirox Foundation in South Africa this Fall.
