Artist Talk: Wendy Red Star

Artist Wendy Red Star discusses her work, on view in our special exhibition Half the Picture: A Feminist Look at the Collection. Red Star was raised on the Apsáalooke (Crow) reservation in Montana, and her practice explores the intersections of Native American ideologies and colonialist structures, both historically and in contemporary society. Informed by her cultural heritage, she engages with many forms of creative expression, including photography, sculpture, video, fiber arts, and performance.
