Artistically Speaking: 10th to 23rd Street

Artists’ Clubs, Studios, and Residences

WITH MATT POSTAL

This walking tour with Matt Postal focuses on mainly artist’s clubs, their studios and residences –- not around Washington Square but in Gramercy Park, on Union Square and the most northern blocks of Greenwich Village. En route, we’ll have the opportunity to view the original home of the Century Association (now a television studio), where many Hudson River School artists gathered, as well as several structures associated with prominent members of the Ashcan School. A number of sites have strong associations with trailblazing women, including Elsie de Wolfe, Isabel Bishop, and the former home of the Pen & Brush Club.
