Artists and Collectors: Edythe and Eli Broad and Jeff Koons in Conversation with Carol Vogel

Throughout the history of art the relationship between artists and collectors has been strong, binding and often transformative.

It still is. The Los Angeles philanthropist Eli Broad together with his wife, Edythe and the New York artist Jeff Koons will discuss their long and fruitful history of collaboration and how it has benefited both art and the public.

What are the pros and cons of such a relationship and how has it changed over the years?

In September the Broads opened a new contemporary art museum in downtown Los Angeles designed by the architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro that is home to about 2,000 works of postwar and contemporary art from the couple’s collection including works by Mr. Koons. So far it has attracted more than 400,000 visitors of which an overwhelming number are a young demographic.
