Celebrate all the unknowns of the universe with Jorge Cham, Daniel Whiteson, and a profusion of pies to try!
On the most mathmagical day of the year — Pi Day 3.14 — we’ll gather in a science-themed clubhouse to explore the universe’s greatest unknowns at Atlas Obscura’s We Have No Idea: Pi Day Special Edition. This exploratory evening features a fun, interactive presentation about everything that we DON’T know about the Universe. From the origin of our cosmos, to the dark matter that surrounds us, to time travel; there are strange mysteries that abound. PHD Comics creator Jorge Cham and particle physicist Daniel Whiteson team up to explain everything that we have no idea about-featuring science and live cartooning.
No scientific knowledge required, just a sense of curiosity, a sense of humor, and room in your stomach! Because no Pi Day celebration would be complete without a taste of pie, there will be a π buffet featuring a variety of inspired desserts. A Pi Recitation Contest will follow the presentation, and the attendee with the best memory will be eligible for prizes! Copies of the fully illustrated book, We Have No Idea, will be available to purchase on site.
Jorge Cham is the creator of the popular online comic Piled Higher and Deeper, popularly known as PHD Comics and earned his PhD in robotics at Stanford.
