Author Talk Julie Orringer: The Flight Portfolio

Join Julie Orringner, best-selling author of The Invisible Bridge, for a talk about her latest book, The Flight Porfolio. Set in occupied Europe, this gripping historical novel is based on the true story of Varian Fry’s extraordinary attempt to save the work, and the lives, of Jewish artists fleeing the Holocaust. Working under the veil of a legitimate relief organization, Fry set up an underground railroad that led over the Pyrenees mountains, into Spain, and finally to Lisbon, where refugees including Hannah Arendt, Marcel Duchamp, and Marc Chagall embarked for safer ports. Orringer is the winner of The Paris Review‘s Plimpton Prize for Fiction and the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library.

Co-Presented with the Jewish Book Council.
