Authors at Grand Central Tech: Zachary Wood

Author and Williams College graduate Zachary Wood will discuss his new book, Uncensored: My Life and Uncomfortable Conversations at the Intersection of Black and White America.

In his new book, Wood shares the details of his personal story to become a crusader for open dialogue and free speech. In Uncensored, he discusses his experience growing up in a poor and black in Washington, DC, in an environment where the only way to survive was to resist the urge to write people off because of their backgrounds and their perspectives.

By sharing his upbringing, Zach makes a compelling argument for a new way of interacting with others, in a nation and a world that has never felt more polarized. In Uncensored, he hopes to foster a new outlook on society’s most difficult conversations, both on campus and beyond.

Grand Central Tech hosts a monthly author series open to its community of entrepreneurs and the general public. Located in midtown Manhattan, GCT is home to one of the largest concentration of startups — 110+ companies employing 1,400 people — under one roof, in the country.

GCT’s goal is to foster a robust community of startups and entrepreneurs that truly reflects the fabric of New York by supporting the development of an inclusive, diverse, and sustainable technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem and creating pathways to access for underrepresented communities in tech.
