Behind-the-Scenes @ 1923 American Academy of Arts & Letters Society HQ

Join New York Adventure Club for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at the American Academy of Arts & Letters, an honor society of 250 architects, composers, artists, and writers.

Members of the Academy are elected for life and pay no dues. As vacancies occur, the Academicians nominate and elect new members. The honor of election is considered the highest formal recognition of artistic merit in the United States.

Our tour of this historic society, headquartered in the landmarked Audubon Terrace Complex since 1923, will include a visit to the members’ rooms, portrait gallery, library, and current exhibition gallery. If we’re lucky, we’ll pay a visit to the rarely visited auditorium designed by Cass Gilbert, which is sought out by musicians wishing to record live as the acoustics are considered among the world’s finest.
