Join New York Adventure Club for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Society of Illustrators, the oldest non-profit dedicated to promoting the art of illustration — Notable Society members have been N.C. Wyeth, Rube Goldberg, and Norman Rockwell, among many others.
Led by the Society of Illustrators’ Collection Manager, our special experience of this 115-year old-society (and historic five-story townhouse in the Upper East Side), will include:
- A visit to its Museum of American Illustration, one of the most comprehensive collections of this genre in the world, containing over 2,500 works by many of the greatest names in illustration and comic and cartoon art.
- A NYAC-only visit to the archives, which contains historic pieces such as the original cover art for the first Harry Potter film.
- A peek inside the members-only library, featuring its famous tiled fireplace with art dating back to the Society’s founders.
The tour will conclude in the Society’s private Hall of Fame dining room, where attendees can stay and purchase food and drinks! Don’t forget to take a look at Member Norman Rockwell’s painting Dover Coach, which is the background for the Hall of Fame dining room bar.
