She lived with her family at 97 Orchard at the turn of the 20th century when it was at its most crowded, and one can only imagine the questions her neighbors brought to her about their futures. Mini-tours of the tenement reveal primary sources that tell us about Dora’s family life. Historian and Yiddishist Edward Portnoy sheds light on the role fortune tellers played in the immigrant community.
