Behind-The-Scenes @ Poster House, First Museum in U.S. Dedicated to Posters

From tailoring services for “elegant ladies,” to publishing firms, to an iconic Apple repair store, 119 West 23rd Street has had its fair share of interesting tenants over the past century — though in 2019, a new museum moved in that is quickly becoming its most famous one yet. Get ready to step inside a first-of-its-kind art museum that explores 160 years of the poster, like no other institution in the United States has before.

Join New York Adventure Club for a private exploration at Poster House — through exhibitions, events, and publications, this museum presents a global view of posters from their earliest appearance in the late 1800s, to their present-day use.

Led by the museum’s director, our unique experience before the museum opens up to the public, will include:

  • An overview of Poster House, the first museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to posters, which opened its doors in the Summer of 2019
  • discussion around the museum’s gut-renovation that transformed 15,000-square-feet and two floors inside the 1901 National Cloak Company building, into a state-of-the-art design that incorporates several historic architectural features including exposed brick walls, barrel vaults, and cast-iron columns
  • private, pre-hours tour of its permanent and current exhibitions (see below for the included exhibitions)
  • An exclusive trip into the archives to get a sneak-peek at displays and artifacts a part of future exhibitions

Afterward, you’ll be able to browse the museum on your own, or sit back and relax in the museum cafe!

No tour is ever the same.

See you there!
