Behind the Velvet Rope: Katie Chambers

Katie Chambers is the Director of Community Engagement for New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT), which energizes the careers of women in entertainment by illuminating their achievements, providing training, and advocating for equality. Now in its 40th anniversary year, the organization’s flagship programs include the Women Directors: Immigrant Stories series, the Muse Awards and The Writers Lab funded by Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.

From her vantage point inside a women’s media organization, Chambers will speak about the industry in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations. She will discuss NYWIFT at a moment when the #MeToo movement and sexual misconduct in Hollywood have entered the national conversation.

Chambers was previously a talent agent at Abrams Artists Agency, served on the Next Generation Committee of the NY Television Festival, and produced a critically acclaimed play. Her writing has appeared in The Huffington Post and other outlets.
