‘Bill Graham and the Rock & Roll Revolution’ Webinar

While millions idolize the biggest names in rock & roll — like the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, and the Rolling Stones — fewer are familiar with the legendary music impresario who helped expose their music to the world. This is the story of how one man channeled his love of culture, celebration, and music, to ultimately become one of the most influential concert promoters of all time.
Join New York Adventure Club as we explore several decades of Rock & Roll history through the life of Bill Graham, one of the most legendary rock promoters of all time who launched the careers of the biggest names in rock music.
Led by New-York Historical Society staff member Dan Conroy, our virtual exploration of the life and legacy of Bill Graham will include:
– A look back at Graham’s tumultuous upbringing, from escaping Nazi persecution in 1930’s Germany, to his adolescence in The Bronx, to getting drafted into the Korean War
– The story of Graham’s rise as a concert promoter, and how he launched the careers of countless music luminaries at his famed Fillmore Auditorium, Filmore West, and Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco; and the Fillmore East in New York City
– Never-before-published photographs of Bill Graham’s life, accomplishments, and the world he helped create
– Exclusive audio interview clips, video documentation, and memorabilia spanning over three decades of Rock & Roll history
Afterward, we’ll have a Q&A with Dan — any and all questions about Bill Graham are welcomed and encouraged!
