A reading group led by writer and teaching artist Magenta Naaku (she/they), exploring Black femme transformation, shapeshifting, and the collision of desire and the supernatural.

The session focuses on Eloghosa Osunde's "Grief Is the Gift That Breaks the Spirit Open," in which a Black femme discovers she can shapeshift by inhabiting abandoned bodies. The story's exploration of sexual pleasure, queer desire, and the secrets that bind us anchors a discussion on embodiment, immortality, and how love and horror coexist in the narrative. Participants are encouraged to share favorite passages, pose questions, and engage with optional writing prompts.

A copy of the story is emailed upon registration. Complimentary drink from the Café & Bar included.

Part of the Center for Fiction's Black Femme Transformation series. Bundle discount available with the companion session on Pemi Aguda's "Manifest" (code BLACKFEMME, $80 total). Need-based scholarships covering 50% of tuition are available.
