Book Discussion – The Lemon Tree – New Narratives Community

We are having our first meeting/event at New Narratives Community, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating spaces for dialogue and conversation between the Israeli and Palestinian communities.

This event is composed of the following: an introduction to New Narratives Community, a discussion of the nonfiction “novel” “The Lemon Tree”, a Q&A session and a brainstorming session for future joint initiatives.

“The Lemon Tree” is about a Jewish-Israeli woman (Dalia) and an Arab-Palestinian man (Bashir) and the friendship that develops between them. We will focus on chapter 9: “The Encounter” where Dalia and Bashir have a conversation. A conversation that is representative of the one that has been taking place between the two sides throughout the course of the conflict and specifically since 1967.

We will discuss the friendship between Dalia and Bashir against the backdrop of political and historical events.

We would love to have you at this meeting to both discuss New Narratives Community and the story of “The Lemon Tree”.
