Book Launch | Erick Meyenberg: The wheel bears no resemblance to a leg

Join us for an evening with Mexican artist Erick Meyenberg at the Hotel Americano as we celebrate the new publication Erick Meyenberg: The wheel bears no resemblance to a leg, with the presence of the artist.

This publication, edited by Karen Marta, Gabriela Rangel, and Lucía Sanromán, includes the drawings, musical scores, diagrams of choreography, video stills, and other artworks which document and contextualize the artist’s extensive research, as well as critical essays by Gabriela Rangel, Osvaldo Sánchez, and Lucía Sanromán.

Borrowing its enigmatic title from the words of Guillaume Apollinaire, The wheel bears no resemblance to a leg chronicles the making of a multilayered project by Mexican artist Erick Meyenberg. Working for two years with a local high school marching band in Mexico City, Meyenberg orchestrated a complex performance which took place throughout the capital and that provoked (and continues to provoke) reflections on the pedagogical machinery of discipline, education, gender, and the state.

Books will be sold at the event and are also available at artbook.com.
