Boris Berman: Music from The Russian Thaw Era

Join us to explore the music from a relative liberalization of the Soviet cultural policies in 1960s that became known as “The Thaw”.

Boris Berman, Professor and Head of Piano at Yale University School of Music, belonged to the small group of Moscow musicians that premiered works of young non-conformist composers of that time. He will be talking about his work with Alfred Schnittke, Edisson Denisov, Sofia Gubaidullina, Valentin Silvestrov, Tigran Mansurian, Arvo Part, and will perform some of their works with the students of Yale School of Music.
