Brooke Barker & Boaz Frankel: Let’s be Weird Together

Doors open 30 minutes before the start of the event.

Something interesting tends to happen when two people fall in love and form a relationship. They don’t become more normal…they get weirder. That’s what Brooke Barker, creator of The New York Times bestselling book and Instagram account Sad Animal Facts (with over 340K followers), discovered when she met her husband Boaz Frankel. After investigating the matter further, the couple uncovered a treasure trove of weird relationship history—eccentric historic couples, odd animal mating rituals, strange gifts of affection—leading them to realize that they weren’t the only weirdos out there. And so, LET’S BE WEIRD TOGETHER: A Book About Love was born.

This colorful and fully illustrated compendium of quirky love contains a sampling of strange love-related laws (in New Orleans, fortune tellers and palm readers are not able to officiate at weddings), a selection of untraditional romantic getaway destinations (get hitched at Voodoo Doughnuts and snack on some donuts customized to resemble the newlyweds), a flowchart to help couples determine the type of pet that best suits them, and more.

Join us on the second floor art department for a lively and highly interactive discussion with Brooke and Boaz.
