‘Bruce Springsteen: A Video Retrospective’ Webinar by Arlen Schumer
Whether you’ve bought his records, seen him live in concert, or caught a glimpse of him on TV, get ready to see Bruce Springsteen’s GREATEST video hits — in chronological order — including rare ones you might have never seen!
Though musician Bruce Springsteen has long been acknowledged as one of the greatest live rock & roll performers in history, his rise to prominence during the pre-video 1970s has made it almost impossible to find film and videos of his greatest live performances. Fortunately, one local historian — and Springsteen fan from the very beginning — has culled over 40 years worth of rare and hard-to-find footage, and is ready to showcase “The Boss” as you’ve never seen him before.
Join New York Adventure Club as we embark on a virtual retrospective tour of Bruce Springsteen’s touring career — seen through film and video camera lenses, and interspersed with still images that give historical background to each video, this digital showcase will cover all of the major eras of Bruce’s legendary, five-decade performing history.
Led by Springsteen historian Arlen Schumer — who was art director of the first Springsteen fan publication, Thunder Road, and a longtime contributor to the current one, Backstreets — this curated video retrospective of Bruce’s best performance films and videos from throughout his long and storied career will include:
- A brief look back at Springsteen’s early years, and how a kid described by former teachers as a “loner who wanted nothing more than to play his guitar” would eventually become one of the hardest working musicians in the industry
- A discussion around Springsteen’s music career in the early- to mid-‘70s, when he was dubbed “The Future of Rock & Roll”
- A deep dive into the classic “album years” of Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River, and Born in the USA, which made Springsteen America’s rock & roll laureate
- The best performance films and videos from all of Bruce’s officially-released footage, from the 1980s through the 2010s
Stick around after the webinar for a Q&A with Arlen, who will be ready to answer any-and-all questions about “The Boss!”
