Cabaret Cinema: Consciousness Hacking

This September, Cabaret Cinema celebrates films inspired by the Consciousness Hacking movement. With Tibetan Buddhist scholar Christopher Kelley serving as the series host, these screenings will provide opportunities to take a deep dive into a world of mind-expanding film viewing and discussion.

In this second of three feature presentations curated by the Consciousness Hacking movement, director Richard Linklater employs “rotoscoping” technology to create the illusion of a dream state while examining the tenuous line between the subjective and objective worlds. This film illustrates the concept of contemplation, one of three themes being explored in Consciousness Hacking: Transformative Film Experiences. Waking Life is both a film about consciousness hacking and is a consciousness hack itself.

This screening of Waking Life will feature guest speaker Thomas Peisel.
