Cacao x Sound Meditation

Using sounds from instruments, voice, and nature, we’ll heighten internal/external awareness while cultivating a greater capacity for mindful emotional processing. Releasing stress is more accessible when the mind and body are in a relaxed state. Join us and access your inner calm. This 1.5 hr. event includes optional Cacao elixir, guided meditation, and sound bath. All experience levels welcome. Props provided.

Maraliz Campos is a Paraguayan-American sonic teaching artist. She has spent the last 22 years immersed in the power of sound and music. Offering workshops and weekly classes in New York and on tour, she guides her students through increased self awareness, yoga therapeutics, meditation, and sound vibrations using her kinesthetic approach to instruction. Mindfulness practices saturate every class she teaches. Her previous work with refugees and victims of abuse informs her interactions with each student.

Sound has been an integral part of her work for the past two and a half years. Most recently, her sound practitioner training and certification was completed with Sara Auster in NYC and included studying with Silvia Nakkach, Dr. John Beaulieu, Wendy Young and others. Originally, Maraliz studied sound with Lynn Tran at the Dallas Yoga Center. She completed her yoga teacher training while undergoing chemotherapy and her certification was granted by her mentor Jyl Kutche at the DYC in 2015. She shadowed Jyl for 8 months afterwards in therapeutic yoga practices.

That same year, she participated in training and a transmission ceremony of Thich Nhat Hanh’s Five Mindfulness Trainings with Terry Cortes-Vega at the Dallas Meditation Center. Maraliz now helps others find relief from all forms of stress and pain with vibrations and movement using personal recordings, Himalayan/crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, violin, the voice and other percussive instruments.
