What Can Happen in a Minute?

Nachmanovitch’s Free Play and Salit’s Becoming Principle grew out of more than two decades of bringing artistic and creative improvisation together with everyday life. They each created transformative exercises based on what people can do in just one minute.

On August 12th the East Side Institute brings these two sought-after creativity experts together for What Can Happen in a Minute? They have found that one minute can launch a discovery process that enhances creativity in all areas of your life.

You can try out new ways of listening, talking, being. Suspend judgment. Change your relationship to mistakes and failures. Be present in a process and lose your concern with particular outcomes and results. Learn to reinforce your trust in the creative processes you engage in. Change and develop as you go.

Stephen Nachmanovitch performs and teaches internationally as an improvisation violinist, and at the intersections of music, dance, theater, and multimedia arts. He is the author of Free Play: Improvisation in Life and Art. He has presented master classes and workshops at many conservatories and universities, and has had numerous appearances on radio, television, and at music and theater festivals. He is currently performing, recording, teaching, writing, and has completed a new book, Improvising is Life.

Cathy Rose Salit is the CEO and co-founder of Performance of a Lifetime, a training and organizational change company that helps Fortune 500 organizations grow through the art of performance, improvisation and storytelling. She is the author of Performance Breakthrough: A Radical Approach to Success at Work.
