Carmen C. Bambach: “Leonardo da Vinci Rediscovered”

On the occasion of the publication of Leonardo da Vinci Rediscovered, the Italian Cultural Institute welcomes Carmen Bambach, internationally renowned Leonardo specialist and author of the prestigious monograph. Carmen’s four-volume work is a groundbreaking contribution of original scholarship that continues the long legacy of Leonardo studies, while simultaneously reexamining the multifaceted artist’s life and work from the ground up. Through her comprehensive research, and original new narratives, Leonardo emerges as a figure who both embodies his era and completely transcends it, enduring as one of history’s greatest artists, scientists, and inventors.

Carmen Bambach, is curator of Drawings and Prints at The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She received the Inaugural Vilcek Foundation Prize for Excellence for her contribution to U. S. society and culture as an immigrant in 2019. After ten exhibition catalogues and more than seventy scholarly articles, her latest work Leonardo da Vinci Rediscovered has been published by Yale University Press in July 2019.
