CBH Talk: Unfinished

The final program in the Center for Brooklyn History's An Unfinished Revolution: Dialogues on Freedom and Democracy series centers on James Baldwin's A Letter to My Nephew — written on the centennial of emancipation, addressed to Baldwin's young nephew, and at once a warning, a meditation on race and American identity, and a call to resist despair.

Historian Kellie Carter Jackson — award-winning author of We Refuse: A Forceful History of Black Resistance and Chair of Africana Studies at Wellesley College — uses Baldwin's text as a springboard for guided public conversation on citizenship, belonging, historical memory, and the unfinished struggle to realize the promises of American democracy. The evening is moderated by Ben Tumin, creator of Skipped History.

Audience members are invited not simply to listen but to actively reflect, question, and contribute. Space is limited; held in CBH's Othmer Reading Room.
