Chelsea Music Festival: America/Beautiful featuring Min Kwon, Timo Andres, & guests

Pianist Min Kwon conceived America/Beautiful during the pandemic with a single urgent question at its center: What is America — is it beautiful, was it ever, or will it ever be? The answer came in the form of over 70 commissioned variations on "America the Beautiful" from composers across the country, ranging in age from 21 to 96. This program features New York premieres by Samuel Adler, Stewart Copeland, Fred Hersch, Timo Andres, and others — each bringing a radically different perspective on the American experience. Photographs of American landscapes by Park Joon accompany each variation. Together, the works form a portrait of a country as diverse and complicated as the people who live in it.
