Cleve Jones

Cleve Jones has been an activist since the 70s. He worked as a student intern for Harvey Milk and even earned a portrayal in Gus Van Sant’s 2008 biopic Milk. Cleve also co-founded the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and came up with the idea of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. His work isn’t done yet as he continues to fight for equality, currently working with UNITE HERE, the hotel, restaurant, and garment workers’ labor union on issues of homophobia. Now he has taken some time to write about his life as an activist in his memoir When We Rise: My Life in the Movement.
