Conversation with “Brotopia” Author Emily Chang on the Boys’ Club of Silicon Valley

Emily Chang’s newest book, Brotopia: Breaking Up the Boys’ Club of Silicon Valley, is exposing the toxic workplace culture of the tech world and taking the industry by storm.

Chang will be speaking at Grand Central Tech’s (GCT) Author Series on Thursday, February 8 (11:30 am – 1:00pm).

She’ll discuss her powerful exposé, drawing on her deep network of Silicon Valley insiders and revealing:

  • How Silicon Valley got so sexist despite its utopian ideals
  • Why bro culture endures despite decades of companies claiming the moral high ground
  • How women are finally starting to speak out and fight back

The venue, Grand Central Tech, hosts a monthly author series open to its community of entrepreneurs and the general public. Located in midtown Manhattan, GCT is home to one of the largest concentration of startups — 110+ companies employing 1,400 people — under one roof, in the country.

GCT’s goal is to foster a robust community of startups and entrepreneurs that truly reflects the fabric of New York by supporting the development of an inclusive, diverse, and sustainable technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem and creating pathways to access for underrepresented communities in tech.
