Cornel West Speaks on 60th Anniversary Publication of “The Wretched of the Earth” at Revolution Books

Revolution Books presents a Brooklyn Book Festival “Bookend Event”
60th Anniversary of Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth featuring Cornel West

In Conversation with Andy Zee

A special in-store event at Revolution Books in Harlem will mark the publication by GroveAtlantic of the 60th Anniversary edition of Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth.

The program, a “Bookend Event” in partnership with the Brooklyn Book Festival, will feature scholar-activist Cornel West, who wrote the introduction for this new edition from GroveAtlantic. The program will be held at Revolution Books at 437 Malcolm X Blvd at 132nd Street. The evening will also be live-streamed (details soon). This is a program for all who are outraged by the horrors of the world today, and all who ache for liberation.

One of the most influential radical texts of the second half of the 20th century, The Wretched of the Earth analyzes the dehumanizing effects of colonialism-imperialism on the oppressed of the Third World. The book is a powerful call to revolt. Cornel West’s introduction to the 60th anniversary edition addresses the book’s significance and legacy. Dr. West will be in conversation with Andy Zee, spokesperson for Revolution Books and a host of The RNL–Revolution Nothing Less–Show.

A central question: what is the content of national liberation and revolution in today’s world?

At a time when conditions in the global south cry out more than ever for revolutionary transformation…
At a time of acute division in the U.S., which heightens revolutionary possibility…
…the September 29 program with Cornel West, trenchant radical democratic philosopher and activist, and Andy Zee, advocate for the new communism developed by Bob Avakian, promises to be a critical and engaged conversation.
