Coronavirus: Ask a Political Scientist LIVESTREAM

In this live online show, host Dr. Andrea Jones-Rooy, a professor of political and data science and standup comedian, will be joined each week by a political science guest to help break down the political side of this pandemic.

Andrea and her guests will help us understand political science research and how it connects to our current situation, addressing the primaries, COVID-19, and the effects of the pandemic. The show will be followed by 30-minutes of Q&A from the audience.

WHO: Host Andrea Jones-Rooy holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan, a bunch of low self-esteem from years of doing standup comedy, and a series of physical injuries from decades of being a dancer and circus performer.

This week she’s joined by Dr. Sarah Croco, who studies when people blame leaders for disasters.

ABOUT THE GUEST: Sarah Croco is an associate professor in the Department of Government & Politics at the University of Maryland. Her research focuses on how and when citizens hold leaders accountable for international crises, as well as the political ramifications for leaders when they change policies. In addition to publications in top political science journals, she has also written a book, Peace at What Price? Leader Culpability, Domestic Politics, and War Termination, and contributed an article to Vox, “How to make politicians pay for lying.” She has won several teaching awards and regularly teaches classes about statistics, research design, and programming in R.
