This event has already taken place. Find a full list of upcoming events here.
When: Thu, Dec 6, 2012 at 12:00am - Sat, Dec 8 11:59pm
Where: The New School
66 W. 12th St.
212-229-5108
The conference is intended to be broadly inclusive, ranging from individual philanthropy, volunteering, international giving, and faith-based giving to state social welfare programs designed to reduce the suffering of citizens. Our speakers—scholars, professionals, and philanthropists—will deepen our understanding of why we do and should give to others, what the roots of altruism are, how we can instill generosity in young people, what the religious and philosophical grounds for caring and giving to others are, as well as looking at what the correct balance between private philanthropy and government welfare programs may be.
