Crashing Cathedrals: Edmund White by the Book

Lambda-Award-winning author and editor Tom Cardamone brings together a diverse collection of queer writers and their supporters to celebrate the rich, innovative works of Edmund White, the eminent memoirist and author of the American literature classic, A Boy’s Own Story, not to mention other outstanding works of fiction and several lauded nonfiction works that include Genet: A Biography.

In Crashing Cathedrals: Edmund White by the Book, established writers, new voices, journalists, friends, former students, White’s husband, and a recent editor/publisher provide personal appraisals of White’s work in the order in which his books were published. The collection forms a unique tribute-cum-biography of the most significant contemporary gay writer in the world.

This event will feature readings from Alysia Abbott, Brian Alessandro, Tom Cardamone, Michael Carroll, Philip F.Clark, Alden Jones, Frank Pizzoli, Charlie Vazquez, and William Sterling Walker.

Alysia Abbott is a writer, teacher, speaker, and author of the acclaimed memoir Fairyland: A Memoir of My Father.

Brian Alessandro is a novelist, short story writer, essayist, filmmaker, illustrator, and educator from New York City.

Anthologist Tom Cardamone is the Lambda-award winning author of Green ThumbThe Lurid Sea, and several other books.

Michael Carroll is the author of two short story collections, including Stella Maris and other key west stories, just published.

Philip F. Clark‘s debut collection of poetry, ‘The Carnival of Affection,’ was published by Sibling Rivalry Press, in 2017

Alden Jones is the author of The Blind Masseuse: A Traveler’s Memoir from Costa Rica to Cambodia and the short story collection Unaccompanied Minors.

Founding publisher and editor of The Central Voice newspaper, Frank Pizzoli’s work has been published in The Brooklyn RailHuffington PostGay & Lesbian Review WorldwideLambda Literary Review, and Windy City Times.

Charlie Vázquez is the author of the novel Contraband (Rebel Satori, 2010), as well as short stories and poetry.

William Sterling Walker is the author of Desire: Tales of New Orleans.
