"Fare Cinema”, a global initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anica and Istituto Luce Cinecittà, in collaboration with the ASC, is devoted to the various crafts that have made possible Italian cinema’s success. The Institute has the pleasure of hosting Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo for a conversation with the public. The husband and wife duo is the recipient of three Academy Awards, and seven nominations, for their outstanding work as production designers, art directors and costume designers.

The talk will be preceded by the screening of clips from some the films they are most fond of.

Dante Ferretti is an Italian production designer, art director and costume designer. Throughout his career he has worked with many great directors, both American and Italian, including Pier Paolo Pasolini, Federico Fellini, Terry Gilliam, Franco Zeffirelli, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Anthony Minghella, and Tim Burton. He frequently collaborates with his wife, set decorator Francesca Lo Schiavo.

The duo Ferretti-LoSchiavo has won three Academy Awards for Best Art Direction for “The Aviator”, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” and “Hugo”, and also gained seven previous nominations. In addition, Ferretti was nominated for Best Costume Design for “Kundun”. He has also won three BAFTA Awards.
