Daoist Meditation for Inner Peace, Vibrant Health and Heightened Awareness

Livia Kohn, a renowned expert on Daoism (or Taoism),  will share her insights into some core principles of Daoist meditation and introduce us to a few of its foundational practices. There are three fundamental types of meditative practice in this ancient “self-cultivation” tradition. The first involves using the mind to guide internal energy (qi) through the body’s subtle energy pathways (i.e. meridians) to enhance health and vitality. The second uses visualization techniques to boost the functioning of one’s internal organs and let go of negative emotions. The third involves seeking to sit in oblivion, release all conscious conceptions and open to the flow of universal consciousness. These practices contribute to longevity, and enhanced mental and physical well-being.

Livia Kohn, Ph.D., is Professor Emerita of Religion and East Asian Studies at Boston University. The author or editor of over 40 books, she now lives in Florida, serves as the executive editor of the Journal of Daoist Studies, and runs various workshops and conferences.
