The co-curator of Mantegna to Matisse will discuss the early figure studies of Albrecht Dürer, using as a starting point his pen-and-ink drawing of A Wise Virgin, executed in 1493 during his formative years of travel. The lecture will explore the young artist’s highly ambitious artistic personality, as expressed particularly clearly in his drawings.
