Durey Rediscovered Concert

With tenor William Burden, baritones Jesse Blumberg and Sidney Outlaw, and pianist Jocelyn Dueck

Louis Durey, a member of “Les Six”–a band of friends who created music in Paris during and after the First World War–wrote songs set to poetry by Mallarmé and Heine, Éluard, Hikmet and Audisio, and Langston Hughes. Durey’s music reflects the trajectory of the 20th century and explores the political climate of the era.

Previously unpublished, Durey’s music will soon be heard on a new recording. This concert premieres the previously unheard works.
