Dyed Parchment Workshop

During this weekend workshop, students will learn to dye and dry parchment. The class will use both modern dyes and make traditional dyes from natural sources such as cochineal, walnut, saffron, and oak galls. Students will dye real parchment, made from animal skin, a method that is much different than dyeing paper or leather. Students will leave the class with their own 8×10 piece of dyed parchment and a sampler of dyed parchment.
