Enclave @ Club Cumming Presents Readings by Xavier, Healey, Gidney, Tucker, Stroud

ENCLAVE Reading Series returns to CLUB CUMMING next month with a stellar lineup of authors gleaned from NYC and beyond. The program is an Enclave-patented eclectic mix of some of the most resonant voices in literary fiction, science fiction, personal essay, and creative non-fiction. It will be a a magnificent journey into the work and minds of five fantastic authors on a bill you will find nowhere else: Emanuel Xavier, Trebor Healey, Craig L. Gidney, Ricky Tucker, and Court Stroud.

It all happens at Club Cumming, actor Alan Cumming’s East Village hot spot, where the lights are down low and the people are smart and pretty.

EMANUEL XAVIER, an LGBTQ History Month Icon and Gay City News Impact Award recipient, is author of the poetry collections Radiance, Nefarious, If Jesus Were Gay, Americano, Pier Queen, and the novel Christ Like, celebrating a twentieth anniversary with a recent reissue. A former homeless teen involved in NYC’s ball scene in the 90s and one of the first openly gay Nuyorican poets, he has been a longtime gay rights activist, AIDS activist and LGBTQ homeless youth advocate. He has been featured on HBO’s Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry, has spoken at The United Nations, was a featured TEDx speaker and was filmed for a documentary on poets from around the world which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival. He continues to perform at colleges and universities throughout the country and his books are often included in LGBTQ and Latino Studies courses.

Recipient of a Lambda Literary award, two Publishing Triangle awards and a Violet Quill award, TREBOR HEALEY is the author of A Horse Named Sorrow, Faun and Through It Came Bright Colors, as well as a poetry collection, Sweet Son of Pan and three collections of stories — A Perfect Scar, Eros & Dust and the just-released Falling. He co-edited (with Marci Blackman) Beyond Definition: New Writing from Gay and Lesbian San Francisco and co-edited (with Amie Evans) Queer & Catholic. He lives in Mexico City. www.treborhealey.com

CRAIG LAURANCE GIDNEY the author of the collections Sea, Swallow Me & Other Stories (Lethe Press, 2008), Skin Deep Magic (Rebel Satori Press, 2014), and the Young Adult novel Bereft (Tiny Satchel Press, 2013) and The Nectar of Nightmares (Dim Shores, 2015). RICKY TUCKER is an essayist, teacher, and art critic. His work explores the imprints of art and memory on narrative, and the absurdity of most fleeting moments. He has contributed to Big Red and Shiny, The Paris Review, The Tenth Magazine, and Lambda Literary, and performed for reading series including The Moth Grand SLAM, Sister Spit, Born: Free, and Spark London, among others. He received his BA from The New School as a Riggio: Writing and Democracy scholar, and a Writer/Teacher MA at Goldsmiths, University of London. His forthcoming book, And the Category Is….Inside the Vogue/House/Ballroom Community of New York is slated for a 2020 release.

COURT STROUD is a writer who has worked at Univision, Telemundo, TV Azteca and several digital media companies. His writing may be found in the Washington Post, VICE and Forbes, where the South Texas-native serves as a contributing writer. Stroud designs and teaches course such as “Diversity in Media & Advertising” and “Selling Your Pitch: Essentials of the Business of TV” as an NYU adjunct faculty member.
