Encompass’ Paradigm Shifts Presents NYC Film Premiere of Symbiotic Earth
We are thrilled to announce the screening of a unique and trailblazing film that will launch the Encompass 2019 Paradigm Shifts Music and Film Festival. This educational-outreach program will focus on women who have contributed boundary-breaking research and new paradigm-thinking in the fields of science and the arts, while bringing awareness and knowledge of the interconnections of all life on our planet.
Encompass in association with The Church of the Ascension will present the premiere screening in New York City of the new film by award-winning filmmaker John Feldman: Symbiotic Earth, How Lynn Margulis Rocked the Boat and Started a Scientific Revolution explores the life and ideas of Lynn Margulis, a brilliant and radical scientist, whose unconventional theories challenged the male-dominated scientific community and are today fundamentally changing how we look at our selves, evolution, and the environment.
The screening will be followed by a reception and panel discussion on EARTH ETHICS AND THE CLIMATE CRISIS that will include Fritjof Capra, Ph.D., scientist, activist and author of The Tao of Physics and The Systems View of Life, via Skype; NYU Professor of Biology and Environmental Sciences Tyler Volk, and others. Filmmaker John Feldman and Sheila Silver who composed the film score will also be present. The panel will be moderated by Encompass’ Artistic Director Nancy Rhodes.
