Join author Daniel R. Schwarz, Frederic J. Whiton Professor of English Literature and Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow at Cornell University, for a talk about his new book, Endtimes? Crises and Turmoil at the New York Times, 1999-2009(State University of New York Press, 2012). Schwarz explores the inner workings of The Times during a pivotal decade, providing an in-depth history of the paper's transformation from the age of print into the digital age. His investigation draws on more than 40 one-on-one interviews with Times staff, including the publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., every living executive editor, masthead figures, section editors, and reporters. Of one of New York's iconic institutions in transition, he concludes that "It is the worst newspaper in the world, except for all the others."
