Enhancing Care Through Music & Memory

Dan Cohen, MSW, the founder and Executive Director of Music & Memory, will deliver The New Jewish Home’s 19th annual Stein Lecture on Dementia. The audience will learn how using personalized music can optimize the quality of life and quality of care for patients who have a wide range of cognitive and physical challenges in diverse care settings. Music & Memory, a nonprofit that promotes the use of music to improve patients’ lives, while improving staff morale, operates in more than 4,000 long-term care communities, hospices, hospitals, and home care organizations across the U.S. and abroad.

The New Jewish Home, one of the nation’s largest and most diversified nonprofit older adult health care systems, will also honor the Alzheimer’s Association, Hudson Valley Chapter.
The event will take place at Sarah Neuman, The New Jewish Home’s campus in Mamaroneck. Tours of Sarah Neuman’s Small Houses – revolutionary homes that replace the hospital-like environment of traditional nursing facilities – will precede and follow the program.

The Stein Lecture on Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease is an annual event for health care professionals and the general public, bringing together prominent experts in the field to share their expertise in various aspects of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

One continuing education credit is available for social workers.
