The American Humanist Association, whose tagline is “Good without a god,” defines humanism as “a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism and other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.” Does this differ from Ethical Culture? Several Ethical Culture Leaders signed past humanist manifestoes and have taught classes in The Humanist Institute. How do we understand our tradition as part of Humanism? Together we will take a journey through the history of humanism and find new ways to appreciate its philosophy and practice.
The New York Society for Ethical Culture is a humanist community dedicated to ethical relationships, social justice, and environmental stewardship. Entry to our 100-year-old building and meeting rooms is available for most wheelchair users with prior arrangements. Please call ahead (212-874-5210 x107) for setup of our portable system and plan to arrive one hour before start time.Buy tickets/get more info now
