Facing Risk: New Urban Resilience Practices in Latin America

Facing Risk provides answers to some dilemmas faced by the sustainable development agenda established by the international community. While there is an evident broad consensus, attention, and sense of urgency about what ought to be done, there is not enough clarity, consensus, nor energy devoted to how actions ought to be done to meet these objectives. In this context, this book presents effective urban resilience practices put in place to address the risks of natural and anthropic disasters in six Latin American cities: Manizales, Colombia; La Paz, Bolivia; Ecuador basin; Santa Fe and Pilar, Argentina; and Cubatão, Brazil.
