For the 27th iteration of False Harmonics, Pioneer Works presents an evening of audiovisual performances by Dean Hurley and C. Lavender, preceded by a performance by exhibiting artist Ash Fure.
Known for his longtime collaboration with the late filmmaker David Lynch — for whom he operated Asymmetrical Studio for over a decade — Dean Hurley crafts haunting sonic environments that blur composition and sound design, weaving ambient textures, tape loops, and cinematic atmospheres into a live audiovisual experience.
NYC-based interdisciplinary sound artist and Pioneer Works alumni resident C. Lavender (Lavender Suarez) bridges experimental sound, listening, healing, and performance. She is the author of Transcendent Waves: How Listening Shapes Our Creative Lives and has served as the first sound design educator at the Museum of the Moving Image and assisted late "Deep Listening" composer Pauline Oliveros.
Opening the evening is Ash Fure's performance ANIMAL [for body and sound] — sub-bass floods, sonar clicks, and washes of white noise directed through a self-built rig that moves sound and light simultaneously. The concert takes place adjacent to Fure's site-specific installation ANIMAL [a listening gym].
