Widely seen as one of the most influential designers of the past decade, Thom Browne’s innovations in tailoring have had dramatic impacts on both men’s and women’s fashions.

Browne began his business in 2001 with five suits and a small by-appointment-only shop and subsequently introduced his first men’s ready-to-wear collection in 2003 and women’s collection in 2011. He has been honored with the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year Award in 2006, 2013 and 2016, the GQ Designer of the Year in 2008 as well as the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in 2012.  His traditionally based hand-made suits have evolved into collections recognized by museums around the world including the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum and London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. The design innovator sits down with Fern Mallis to discuss his unique approach to design and what the future holds.
