Join us for an intergenerational celebration of Pride in Jackson Heights
Come join us for "Fierce Figures," an intergenerational celebration of LGBTQIA+ History in Jackson Heights!
This is part 2 of our series, which is a partnership between The Seeing Place, Gabbing with Gays, and Queens Center for Gay Seniors and will feature intergenerational LGBTQIA+ voices.
We will meet at the Queens Center for Gay Seniors, and then walk to sites of importance for the LGBTQIA+ community in Jackson Heights. As we walk to each site, we will use pirate radio to listen to excerpts from stories we recorded on June 17. When we reach each site, we will discuss the history/importance of the location as reflect on the stories. We will visit the site of Julio Rivera's murder, the Post office, Queens Public Library, the location of Q-GLU on 34th ave/ 89th street and then close at Friends Tavern.
ALL are welcome, regardless of sexual orientation.
