Founding Father’s Day Tour

Take a journey through history this Father’s Day on an exceptional tour celebrating both famous and lesser known Founding Fathers. Our specially trained docent will lead you through the Smith Gallery, showcasing our Founding Fathers’ central role in the creation of the United States. The tour continues to our special exhibition, Thomas Jefferson: The Private Man, from the Collections of the Massachusetts Historical Society, where you will discover rarely seen documents, including a copy of the Declaration of Independence in Jefferson’s hand. The tour concludes in our newly unveiled fourth floor where a selection of some of the most fascinating historic objects in the collection shed light on the political and personal lives of our Founding Fathers.

After the tour, participants will meet George Washington in person! Michael Grillo, as George Washington, captures our most memorable Founding Father. Learn first-hand about Washington’s experiences as a soldier in the French and Indian War and as commander in chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Discover the man who would unanimously be elected our first president and come to be known as the “father of our country.”
