Historians delve into the life of one of the most important Americans of the 19th century. Journey with Frederick Douglass as he escapes slavery to become the greatest orator of his day and one of history’s leading writers and abolitionists.

David W. Blight is Class of 1954 Professor of American History at Yale University and the author of Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom. Eddie S. Glaude Jr. (moderator) is chair of the Center for African American Studies and William S. Tod Professor of Religion and African American Studies at Princeton University.
