A rare screening of the 35mm print of one of the most influential political films in history. The Battle of Algiers vividly re-creates a key year in the tumultuous Algerian struggle for independence from the occupying French in the 1950s. 

Introduced by Richard Peña, Professor of Professional Practice in Film in the Faculty of the Arts, School of the Arts, Columbia University and former program director Film Society of Lincoln Center. 

Programmed in conjunction with Waiting for Omar Gatlato: Contemporary Art from Algeria and its Diaspora at the Wallach Art Gallery, Columbia University. Screening will be held in the Katharina Otto-Bernstein Screening Room (Second Floor) of the Lenfest Center for the Arts.
