From the YIVO Archives: The Rothschild Talmud

“From the YIVO Archives” is a new program series highlighting the treasures of the YIVO Archives. The Fall 2012 program features the Rothschild Baba Kama, an ornate and richly decorated manuscript written in 1721-22 by Anshel Moses Rothschild, the founder of the Rothschild dynasty. Donated to YIVO in the mid-1940s by the Manishevitz brothers, the manuscript has been featured in a number of major exhibitions and has been described in several important works on the history of the Talmud.
