Gallery Talk for the Exhibition "Yatate and Beyond—The Culture of Writing"

Calligrapher Mohri Suzuki leads an intimate gallery talk through the special exhibition Yatate and Beyond — The Culture of Writing, presenting works that trace the yatate — a brush and ink-pot joined in a single small case — from its historical roots to the living practice of calligraphy today. Suzuki, visiting from Japan, will discuss the appeal of the yatate form and the broader art of calligraphy as he moves through the exhibited works.
